概述

音乐 production & 技术 at 西蒙 trains musicians to become music production professionals (i.e. recording, mixing, and mastering engineers). 音乐ianship training has played an essential role for many, if not most, successful producers. Through study in music, electronics and acoustics, you will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to work in the professional audio industry.

入学 Requirements

音乐 production & 技术 applicants are required to interview with a faculty member of the department. This is the chance for the applicant to meet face to face with a member of the MPT faculty to discuss the program and a career in music production. It is also a chance for the faculty member to learn more about the applicant’s musical and technical background as well as their motivation for entering the field. While significant, previous recording experience is not necessary, some evidence of research and awareness of the field is expected.

音乐 production & 技术 is a Bachelor of 音乐 program, and therefore requires an interview and an instrumental or vocal audition. The audition ensures that the applicant is at the level sufficient to fulfill the performing ensemble requirement of 西蒙’s MPT curriculum. The audition must be in one of the following categories: classical, 爵士乐, or commercial music, each having its own specific guidelines.

In order to schedule an interview and audition, the University of Hartford application as well as the 西蒙 supplemental application must be completed.

贾斯汀·库尔茨 has worked as a recording engineer for the Tanglewood 音乐 Center in Lenox, Massachusetts as well as the Banff Centre for the Arts in Banff, 阿尔伯塔省. 他的公司, Laurel Hill Recording, specializes in classical and acoustic music and his projects have appeared on the Naxos, 奥尔巴尼, 英诺华, Toccata Classics, 神圣的艺术, and New World record labels.

133.5 credits are required to complete the Bachelor of 音乐 in music production & 技术. The curriculum includes music and industry specific courses.

In your third year, you will join a production team of two or three MPT majors for an assignment that guides you through the learning and application of the tools of the modern recording studio.

In your fourth year, each team produces a full length recording project. The team follows the project from pre-production to recording, mixing, editing, and mastering. This project becomes a valuable tool when entering the professional world.
